HVAC marketing: how to plan around the seasons

Heating and cooling demand follows the weather. The first heat wave and the first cold snap bring a rush of calls, and the weeks between them can be quiet. Marketing that works in this trade is planned ahead of the season, not during it.

Start earlier than feels necessary

Search engines take time to find and trust new pages. If you write a page about furnace replacement in the week the cold arrives, it will not have time to rank before the rush ends. Plan pages for each season a couple of months ahead.

Split your work into three groups

  • Repair: the urgent searches, such as ac repair near me or heating repair in your town.
  • Replacement and installation: bigger jobs where people compare companies and read before they call.
  • Maintenance plans: the steady work that smooths out the quiet months.

Each group deserves its own page or set of pages, since they attract different customers with different questions.

Time your ads to the weather

Search ads let you raise or lower spend week by week. Set up the campaign before the season, test the call tracking and be ready to increase the budget when the weather turns. In the off season, pull back or switch to maintenance-plan offers.

Keep your Google Business Profile current

Update services, hours and photos for the season. If you offer emergency service, say so. Ask for reviews after every job, and reply to them, since reviews help people choose you once they find you.

Use automation for maintenance customers

Customers on a maintenance plan need reminders before each season. Automated reminders and follow-up messages keep them booked without extra work from your team, and they give you a base of repeat customers when new leads slow down.

Measure by season

Compare this summer with last summer, not with last spring. Seasonal swings make month-to-month comparisons misleading. Track leads and booked jobs by source and read the trend over a full season before you judge a change.
